High Court starts hearing death references, appeals over Rakib murder case

The High Court has begun hearing death references and appeals of convicts in the case over the murder of Rakib Howlader in Khulna around one and a half years ago.

The bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Md Jahangir Hossain started the hearing on Tuesday.

Earlier, the death references in the case reached the High Court on November 10, 2015.

On November 8 that year, Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Sultana sentenced two persons — Omar Sharif and Mintu Khan — to death for killing the boy.

Rakib was murdered by inserting a high-pressure air pump nozzle into his rectum and filling the body with air on August 3, 2015.
